Keeping organized

Washi tape that I got off of Ebay
So I have come to a time in my life where I really need to work on staying organized, with many personal projects and real life preparations I need something to keep me on track and help me so that I don't feel so overwhelmed. So I picked up my old planner and started using it again and as soon as I did I wondered why I stopped (which was actually because I had injured myself and couldn't carry my planner with me anymore and I never thought about just keeping it at home since at the time I didn't have a place to keep it)

To be honest, I'm a little obsessed with my planner right now and I spent hours on youtube looking at planner and organization videos which lead me to the Filofax community. Now I am currently using an A5 FranklinCovey planner, which I absolutely adore but I just purchased a Filofax pocket to use in my purse (they were having a 60% off on select items sale) and it just came in the mail a few days ago! (I'm more excited than I should be)

Anyway, while watching youtube video after video I saw a lot of people using washi tape to decorate theirs, and I always thought washi tape was cute but never had a chance to get any so as soon as I saw the opportunity, I took it. All the ones that I have so far are from Ebay but I plan to expand my collection as time goes by. There are some people who have such a huge washi tape collection already and I envy them. Here are some washi tape tag Videos by two Filofax ladies on Youtube if your interested: Mypurpleylife | nadinetx

Martha Stewart Planner pages in my Franklin Covey Planner

Anyway, so as you can see I went ahead and started washi taping my planner and I even did some to my sketchbook which is the brown thing on the left with the AVO 2013 sticker on it. I really enjoy using my planner and I love that the washi tape makes it look so cute. The pink bag on the top left with the hearts on it is where I keep my pens because I started color-coordinating my planner to help with the organization processes. It doesn't seem to be necessary at this point it time, but I like how it looks so I think I'll keep it up.

I also started using different forms of stickers and post-its to help as well. I like it. I will say that I'm not a big fan of the divider tabs that I am using at the moment and would like to go back to staples and pick up some of the pastel Martha Stewart tabs by Avery cause those seemed to fit my overall planner theme more than these neon ones do.
And I saved the best thing for last, what person uses their planner without a kitty on top of it! I mean, really!? But honestly, my cat loves sitting on things she knows I don't want her on. Anytime I put down a purse or a bag within five minutes or so, there is a kitty on top of it squishing all of my belongings. Just like it aught to be I suppose.

If your interested in seeing a page by page of my planner I made a little video (cause I watched like a gazzilion of them before I started using my planner again) Also, My Pocket Filofax makes an appearance in this video. I didn't really include it in this post since I only got it a few days ago and since I haven't been using it much, I don't have much to say about it.

After I use everything for a while, and get a system down. Would you guys be interested in some organizing/planner tips? Let me know.

Until Next time,

  1. washi tape is great! and you get soo adicted to it! i use it a lot with my recycled tetrapak wallets, before i used electricien tape (you know like yellow, red blue etc.) but now with washi tape the wallets are so much more fun!

  2. Random question. What kind of pens are you using on your MS planner pages? I'm thinking about changing to a MS planner, but not sure if my Flair pens will bleed through or not.

    1. So I am using frixion pens now but I think I was using Staedtler fineliner pens when I took this picture. I don't feel like I had an issue with them bleeding through. Nothing obvious at least. The paper is also a little thick which helps with that a lot. I hope that helps!

  3. Be careful with Frixion pens. I heard heat makes the ink disappear, although I haven't tried the theory out. I'm too chicken for that! Beautiful planner btw!

    1. Thank you so much! but I actually know that from experience. It just takes leaving it in a really hot car on a really hot day. (I did it to some work papers that actually weren't all that important) If it does happen you can pop whatever it is into the freezer and it will come back. But for really important things, and things that are pretty much set in stone I use a permanent pen.

Thank you again for the heads up, it is really nice of you! :)
