The Gatsby Summer Afternoon Picnic this year was loads of fun! Jonathan's table was beautiful and he was only two points away from winning peoples choice on best picnic! Our group was huge, and people brought some pretty yummy food. Everyone's outfits looked pretty great and there were a lot more young people at the event in general. In addition I popped my sisters vintage event cherry and used my Birthday as a way to get her to come with me. She said she really enjoyed herself so I might be able to get her to go to more events in the future.
I am also officially a member of the Art Deco Society, so I now get discounts to events including this one. Since I plan on going to a nice chunk of events this year the membership will not only pay itself off quickly, but it will also save me some money over time. Yay!
I had so much fun and I'm already looking forward to the next one, Jonathan has the cutest dress that I hope to wear next year, and he has a matching one in Holly's size so we might be outfit twins. But I must admit I LOVED the dress I was wearing this year so much that I wanted to buy it from the woman I was borrowing in from but she loves it as well so no luck there. Hopefully I will be able to find one of my own via Ebay, Etsy, or Thrift Shopping.
Also, I'd like to figure out some more authentic vintage hairstyles to do for these events. I've tried doing Pin-Curls and Rollers but my hair just doesn't want to dry completely.... I'm sure that I'll figure something out eventually; but I really wish it was much easier. Perhaps once I figure out the best methods I will share them with the rest of the mixed haired world who might also be interested in vintage styles. I'd prefer to figure something out that requires little to no heat.. maybe.
Also my last semester has started so I have been busy working on homework and my portfolio. There is still so much to do and so little time to do it. I am glad that I was able to enjoy the Gatsby event before school gets too hectic. I hope to find a balance between school and Vintage!
Anyway, tell me what you guys think. And let me know if there is an Art Deco Society in your neck of the woods because I hear they are all over the place and I would love to see pictures from other Gatsby events!
Until next time,
